Hybrid system recoups up to 40 percent on fuel expenses

Cathy Proctor of the Denver Business Journal writes:

Tim Reeser, a graduate of Colorado State University and co-founder and president of Loveland’s Lightning Hybrids LLC, hopes his company will conquer Colorado.

But it might end up conquering the world first.

His company, with about 20 employees, makes a hydraulic hybrid system for vehicles. The system captures energy from a hybrid vehicle’s brakes, stores it by pumping liquid into a high-pressure tank, and then uses that energy to power the wheels on the next acceleration.
