Fisher & Phillips Managing Partner Todd Fredrickson was quoted in an article in the Denver Business Journal May 18: “Colorado employers grappling with impact of new federal rule on overtime pay.”
It may be too early for Colorado employees to celebrate a new rule meant to help middle-income salaried employees who work overtime, say local attorneys, nonprofit directors and officials of small business councils.
The U.S. Department of Labor’s final rule on white-collar exemptions and overtime regulations, which was released today, says that as of Dec. 1, salaried workers earning up to $47,476 a year must receive time-and-a-half overtime pay when they work more than 40 hours a week. The salary threshold to receive time-and-a-half overtime pay currently is $23,660.
